FAQ

studylane® is a unique and invaluable resource to students who want to come to Australia and study. There are thousands of courses to choose from in Australia and studylane® helps students search and compare all these courses to find their best option. If you create a profile, you can apply directly to any course online.

You can apply to as many courses as you like and you won't have to keep filling out application forms because studylane® uses the information you entered on your first application form to fill out any new ones!

The time it takes varies on the institution you have applied to. Generally, the bigger the institution, the longer it takes for the application to be processed and the offer to come through. Sometimes the institution will require further information on your application. This can lengthen the time it takes to process the application, but we will notify you when this happens.

studylane® is expanding very quickly and working very hard at getting permission from all Australian institutions to use studylane® as a booking platform. You can still search and compare any course in Australia, but until the institution gives us permission, you'll have to fill out their application form from scratch. You can help us improve studylane® by clicking the Contact Us which tells the institution that you want to use us as your university booking site!

There are 5 main types of courses offered in Australia: Diploma, Undergraduate, Postgraduate, English Course and Pathways.

Diplomas are generally offered by smaller institutions and generally take 1 year to complete.

Undergraduate courses are more highly regarded than diplomas and generally take 3 years to complete.

Undergraduate courses are called Bachelor's degrees.

Postgraduate courses are a further step up from undergraduate. You need to have a Bachelor's degree in order to apply for a postgraduate course. Examples of postgraduate studies include Masters and PhD Degrees.

English Courses are courses designed specifically for foreign students to learn English. After completing an English course, students receive a certificate that indicates their level of English.

Pathways programs are special types of diplomas that offer guaranteed entry into an undergraduate course upon successful completion. English language courses can also be pathway programs to diplomas or undergraduate courses.

Future Unlimited is the official Australian government website for international students. It is a fantastic resource that provides general information about studying in Australia and it can be viewed in several different languages.

Australia is becoming more and more popular as a study destination. Apart from offering highly regarded qualifications across a range of fields of study, it is consistently ranked in the world's top 10 most liveable countries, with 3 of its cities ranking in the world's top 10 most liveable cities. Australia has a welcoming, multicultural society with citizens originating from all over the world. On top of this, Australian cities are safe and clean, with lower crime rates than the US and UK.

Once you have applied to your course, we will keep you updated on key dates, such as due dates for your fees.

There are several Australian banks that you can use to set up a bank account, however our recommendation is ANZ Bank as they specialise in international student banking. Please find more information on their website: https://www.anz.com.au/personal/bank-accounts/banking-for-life-changes/international-students/

It can be quite daunting having to decide which company to use for your overseas health cover as there are so many to choose from and you don't know which ones to trust. We recommend using Allianz Global Assistance OSHC as they have years of industry experience and offer comprehensive cover to suit an international student's needs perfectly.

The best place for information on your visa is the Australian government website www.immi.gov.au. Here you'll find all you need to know about types of visas, applying for visas and much more!

Applying for a visa can be complicated, but our trained team at studylane will guide you through the process, making sure you have all the necessary documents prepared.

You can contact one of our trained staffs on 1300 eApply (327 759) if you're calling within Australia, or on +61 (0)2 9251 8939 if you are calling from overseas or email info@studylane.com.au.

All information and documents uploaded to your profile is kept private from other users of studylane®. We will only use your information as necessary to complete a university's application form on your behalf. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information.

Generally, there are three types of accommodation when studying abroad: on-campus, off-campus, and homestay.

On campus accommodation will depend on the university to which you apply. Once you apply to a specific university, we will provide you with further information on the particular living arrangements at that university. It must be noted that not all institutions offer on-campus accommodation.

Choosing off-campus accommodation will involve doing research into the surrounding area of your institution for suitable houses, share houses, apartments or flats. You must be wary to never sign a rental agreement before actually psychically seeing a property, as international students have been scammed over the internet in the past. Once you've applied to a course, studylane® will help you sort out your off-campus living arrangements to make sure that you avoid such scams and that you find a suitable place for you to live over your studies.

Homestays involve living with a local family. Whilst some students complain about a lack of freedom and autonomy, they are a fantastic way to boost your English language skills and really immerse yourself in the local culture. We work closely with Australian Homestay Network and we can guarantee that they will tailor a homestay right for your study circumstances.

Our partnered institutions will appear at the top of the search results alphabetically, then our not- yet partnered institutions will appear below!

Before studylane®, a student would have to apply to each individual institution one at a time. studylane® streamlines this process by using your profile information to apply to several institutions at once.

On top of this, the student would have to organise their visa, bank accounts, insurance and more at all different locations. studylane® is a one-stop-shop where a student can organise not only their studies, but also all these things.
